Letter from Princess Elettra Marconi
Laura wrote: "... On the occasion of the " Coleford Festival of Words" in 2010, the organizers and the participants in the event related to the ex Italian POWs, craftsmen of the Monument devoted to the "Magician of the ether", thank the Princess Elettra Marconi that, with her message of gratitude she has wanted, ideally, to be present and to share the meaningful memory of the POWs and their work in honour of the Great Italian Genius Guglielmo Marconi".
The letter reads:
"To the Italian prisoners of Camp 61 at Winolls Hill, Broadwell, who on Christmas Day 1944 inaugurated the great Monument they had bulit in the Camp to honour Guglielmo Marconi. What remains today of that admirable work is only the memory of the personal tribute the prisoners wanted to pay the great Scientist and fellow countryman. For their sacrifice and their contribution to the memory of my father Guglielmo Marconi, I would like to express my gratitude and thankfulness. Elettra Marconi 4 Giugno 2010".
