Leslie wrote (Dec 2006) "This is a picture taken in Lydney around
1907 of my grandmother Florence E Saysum standing far right aged 7. Her
sister
is
the tall girl
at the
back Elizabeth Saysum - known as Cissie aged 12. They lived at Allastone
Mesne Primrose Hill".
Bottom Left Photo:
"This is a photo of George Saysum of the Gloucestershire
Regiment aged 19. It was taken in 1916".
Bottom Right Photo:
"This is a photo of my great uncle George Saysum also
known as "Chum" and his sister Elizabeth Saysum also known as "Cissie"
in 1918. Both
were
born
in Lydney at Allastone Mesne. The injury George has to the eye was was
sustained in the great war (1914-1918) and which would eventually kill
him a few months after
this photo was taken aged 22. He was a military policeman and is commemorated
on the Lydney war memorial and inside the church. He is buried in Lydney
churchyard with a white military headstone. The Saysum name has a variation
in the spelling and can also be spelt Saysom".
