The Severn King, a Severn Ferry.

Severn King

Severn King

A Velox photo of the Beachley - Aust ferry, Severn King.

Lewis. White added (February 2017): "... Used to love going on the king because you could go upstairs as we put it, during summer holidays from school we would take our bikes across on the ferry and cycle to Severn Beach for the best part of the day or just explore the lanes around Aust and out towards Thornbury. I think the captain of the King was Ben Palmer, the Princess Jack Savage and of course the most well known skipper Ben Brown who also ran the Five Alls inn Chepstow. Beside the cafe top of slipway there was what we called the thruppennie piece cafe a very small greenhouse type place on the ferry hotel bank at the pier head Beachley which was our favourite".
