A house demolished for Lydney By-Pass

Clive wrote:

"During one of our vacations to the UK I took the attached photo of one of the Lydney homes that was lost to the construction of the Lydney by-pass. As it turned out, it was the day after this photo was taken that the house was demolished, the gas company was actually disconnecting the gas line as we walked past the house in preparation for the demolition. I don’t have a date for the photo but hopefully someone will be able to supply a date".

"The home, No. 50 Church Road, had a close connection to the family of my Wife (Betty Berry nee Sage). Betty lived here with her parents (Kathleen and Wyndham (Monty) Sage) and her maternal Grandparents, Nora and Edwin Davies, until she was 5 when she and her parents moved to Naas Lane. Betty remembers that from the front room, to the left of the front door, her Grandmother used to sell sweets and tobacco. The house next door, No. 48 Church Road, was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matthews and their son Hilo (I believe that is the correct spelling of his name)".
