Byron Watkins and Prince in Lydbrook.

Iris
added (August 2006) ".... Mr Byron (known to us as Byrum) Watkins
used to live by himself near the Band Hut in Lydbrook. Each Saturday
morning he would come down through the village and sell vegetables and
fruit from his cart which was pulled by Prince. On his return the horse
would make straight for our house as we gave him bread.
As you can see we are outside the Co-op.
(Top Photo) - Mr. Byron Watkins, sitting on the horse is Janet Bowkett.
(Bottom Photo) - Mrs. Aston (our neighbour), Iris Brain (me), my sister Grace
Brain,
and
Janet
Bowkett
on Prince.
I can only guess these were taken 1951 when I would have been 14. (I'm backed
against the wall as the horse kept coming forward and I was getting a little
frightened)".
