Lydney area in the early 1960s
Videos of the Lydney area shot on 8mm film by the late Mervin Dunn in the early 1960's.
Videos made from 8 mm cine film. Shot by the late Mervin Dunn in the early 1960's and supplied by Dave Dunn. Dave added: "The cine film is not of good quality and has been copied to VHS and then transfered to a computer but it is interesting material".
Lydney to Symonds Yat
Dave wrote: " This shows a car trip from Lydney to Symonds Yat by car via Whitecroft and Parkend. Harold web from Yorkley was one of the few who had a car in those days and took his mates out.".
There is a glimpse of the Symonds Yat Rock viewpoint. Note that the film was made before the wall was built.
Motor Cycle scrambling at Ned's Top
Dave wrote: "This shows a a motor cycle scramble organised by the West Glos. and Dean Forest Auto Club at the Old Dam. This is located on the Old Dam Road that branches off from the Allastone /Yorkley Road to Viney Hill. "
This scramble was organised by the then West Glos Dean Forest Auto Club which later separated car and motorcycle interests into two clubs. The car enthusiasts became the Forest of Dean Motor Club who organise the Wyedean Forest Rally. The motorcycle enthuiasts formed the West Glos Dean Forest MCC who continue to organise many motorcycle events every year and have some more history pages themselves.
Foresters coach trip to Lynton
Dave wrote: "T This shows a coach trip to Lynton. I suspect the coach is one of Bevins of Pillowell. The trips were organised by Tom and Nora Pensome. All the usual gang were gang were filmed, Harold Web, Vic Dunn and Fred Aimes. ".
