Amy Howells was a great stalwart in the community, she organised the concerts, the maypole dances and was an accomplished pianist. Mrs. Glastonbury's husband was the cobbler in the village. Mrs. Hartland and her husband ran the post office and shop in St Whites Road . Sally Painter was a teacher at the Sunday School in the Methodist Chapel at the end of Tramway Road".
