"This photograph was taken on the lawn at the Miner's Arms pub.
It was a celebration of Gran's ( Eliza Robbins) 78th birthday in 1948.
A small committee had organised the installation of a new dart board
and scoring board (made by Len Dawe). They also presented Mrs Robbins
with a shield made by Len Dawe and organised a birthday cake.
William Robbins was landlord of the Miner's Arms pub from about 1914 until
his death in 1940. Eliza Robbins was landlady from then until her death in
1953, aged 83. Ben Lewis was landlord from 1953 until 1957."
The Miner's Arms pub was known to the locals as Poulters. The last official name of this pub was "The Winding Wheel". It closed for the last time in the early 1990's and was then converted into flats.
