Families at the Severn Rail Bridge 1929 and 1938.
Top Photo: "This picture was taken in 1929 Left to right: Winifred Parry, Flo Lee, Percy, Edith and Sheila Phipps".
Middle photo: "Picture taken 1938. Sheila Phipps holding Malcolm Davies (toddler)".
Bottom photo: "Picture taken in 1929. From left to right Cyril Davies, Sheila and Percy Phipps".
Peter Essex added: "... I've got a photo, undated but looking 1920s-ish, of Essexes and Sterreys gathered under the rail bridge, but it's too poor to bear any sort of reproduction. However, it's striking from the clothing in mine and the posted photos that, despite the mud, it may well have been an activity carried out in "Sunday best", and family lore suggests that the rocks beneath the bridge were a picnicking spot".
