A view of Brockweir from the Kegie collection.

An old photo of Brockweir

Peter Brown wrote:

"Within the Kegie Collection are a number of early topographical images of the Wye Valley area taken around 1900. ... we are processing this collection for deposit at Gwent Archives and dissemination through a dedicated website in preparation. www.kegiecollection.org This remarkable collection of family history records belongs to Helen Kegie in Newport - who is 92 - and who has asked us to preserve and share the vast collection. She was brought up in Chepstow/Tutshill area and then Cinderford, where her father Alfred was the chemist in the 1920s and 30s".

This photo shows Brockweir before the construction of the bridge over the Wye. Prior to the bridge being built, people relied on a ferry to get them across the Wye.

Note the water in the moat on the right.
